Both albums are amongst the best NWOBHM albums ever, particularly Death Penalty where the Black Sabbath style is most evident. Witchfinder General "Friends of Hell" reissue CD. "U.K. NWOBHM (New wave of British Heavy Metal) band are more or less pretty obscure to the mainstream nowadays. Unfortunately, the band broke up after 2 album releases. Their brand of classic metal and DOOM metal is still refreshing to hear today- one could classify them as very- BLACK SABBATH-Like (Ozzy-era). Questo video é bellissimo, anzi é un opera d'arte! I luoghi e gli ambienti in cui si svogono le riprese sono maledettamente belli, inquietanti e magici/mistici. Il protagonista, il mitico David George Halliday (1957/1987) sembra davvero un mago, uno stregone che nel video viene perseguitato dagli altri componenti del suo gruppo come per volerlo uccidere o farlo diventare uno di loro.. un morto vivente. Ma il grande mago nero non é stupido e mette in gabbia i suoi agguzzini. La colonna sonora é qualcosa di straordinario e di un' epicità maestosa. Video bellissimo di inizio anni '80, sicuramente 1983, registrato e prodotto dal gruppo stesso. Soprattutto, questo video é uno dei pochissimi se non l'unico(non sò se esiste qualche altro loro video o intervista oppure qualche registrazione di qualche live) in cui si può ammirare questa leggenda chiamata HELL. Gli HELL si formano a Nottinghamshire in Inghilterra e sono uno dei gruppi più oscuri e maledetti di tutta la scena New Wave of British Heavy Metal, il cantante, Dave Halliday morì suicida nel 1987 a trent'anni. to Dave, "We miss thou Master, but thy Blasphemy liven on and on".

I WITCHFINDER GENERAL sono una delle mie bands preferite, formata nel 1979 a Stourbridge, Inghilterra, un gruppo della New Wave of British Heavy Metal in circolazione durante i primi anni 1980. Essi sono fortemente influenzati dai BLACK SABBATH di cui sono a mio parere gli eredi naturali del loro inconfondibile stile ed oggi sono ampiamente riconosciuti come uno dei pionieri del Doom Metal.

All tracks recorded live at Tiffany's, 27A Oxford Street, Manchester - Wed. 6th July '83 except Shadowed Images and start of Quietus - The Palais, Humberstone gate, Leicester - Thurs. 7th July '83.
Released on CD first, and as a DLP later.
Due to a faulty mastertape, the music on the initial CD release of this album runs at a slower speed than normal. However, the DLP release of this album (released December 2006), has fixed this error. The vinyl die-hard edition came with a bonus 7" featuring "Music" and a radio clip. The CD was rereleased with the LP artwork and corrected speed on April 24, 2007.
