WITCHFINDER GENERAL - Death Penalty (1982) [Reissue 1996] UK

Witchfinder General "Death Penalty" CD. Witchfinder General was one of the few NWOBHM bands to go straight for the early-Sabbath sound, a style that would become popular many years later. Both albums are amongst the best NWOBHM albums ever, particularly Death Penalty where the Black Sabbath style is most evident. The band gained notoriety not only for the great albums but the excellent album covers, both featuring topless women under the guise of tortured would-be witches. " (from www.bnrmetal.com)

WITCHFINDER GENERAL - Friends Of Hell (1983, re-released 1998)

Witchfinder General "Friends of Hell" reissue CD. "U.K. NWOBHM (New wave of British Heavy Metal) band are more or less pretty obscure to the mainstream nowadays. Unfortunately, the band broke up after 2 album releases. Their brand of classic metal and DOOM metal is still refreshing to hear today- one could classify them as very- BLACK SABBATH-Like (Ozzy-era). Witchfinder General still have a HUGE cult following in the metal music scene, and their original vinyl releases are very sought after by collectors! "... from Rockadrome.

In their time, Witchfinder General was considered one of the less-important bands to emerge from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement, but they have become a popular early influence among bands in the doom metal scene. Formed in 1980 by Zeeb Parkes (vocals), Phil Cope (guitars), Woolfy Trope (bass), and Graham Ditchfield (drums), the band was heavily influenced by Black Sabbath and… Read more in Amazon's Witchfinder General Store.

The New Wave of British Heavy Metal Encyclopedia by Malc Macmillan

The Secret of the Steel,
the New & Improved Live & Otherwise Blog ,
IronMaid's NWOBHM space.

WITCHFINDER GENERAL

New Wave of British Heavy Metal in circolazione durante i primi anni 1980.
