Basil Poledouris was an American film composer whose musical breadth enabled him to write music for films as diverse as Starship Troopers with its 96 piece orchestral setting, to the quiet solo piano work for It's My Party. The score which received the most critical acclaim was his work for Conan The Barbarian.

The musical score to "Conan the Barbarian" is truly one of the great achievements in fantasy/adventure film music. Basil Poledouris, who composed and conducted the music, brings a tremendous amount of passion and skill to his task. Equally passionate are the performances by the Orchestra and Chorus of Santa Cecilia and the Radio Symphony of Rome. This is big, bold, richly colored music with a lusty, savage vibe.
The film follows the adventures of Conan, a well-muscled warrior played by Arnold Schwarzeneggar, as he battles his way through a mythic fantasy landscape. Poledouris brilliantly combines choral voices with a full orchestra to evoke Conan's world, with all of its beauty and danger.

Trama:
Il mondo è nel caos: per motivi inspiegabili da qualche settimana i morti più recenti hanno cominciato a risvegliarsi, attaccando e divorando i vivi e prendendo possesso di strade e città. Ogni giorno che passa diventano sempre più numerosi e la comunità scientifica internazionale, nonché le autorità brancolano nel buio. Ogni persona che viene uccisa si rialza e diventa uno zombi. Mentre a Philadelphia l'assistente di studio di una stazione televisiva locale, Fran, assiste al dibattito fra uno scienziato del governo e un giornalista sul fenomeno e su cosa occorre fare per cercare di porvi un freno, il suo fidanzato Steve (Stephen nella versione USA), agente di polizia addetto al controllo del traffico arriva in sala per convincerla a lasciare l'edificio con l'elicottero e fuggire con lui e l'amico Roger verso il Canada, dove il fenomeno appare più contenuto al momento. Intanto in un altro punto della città una squadra S.W.A.T. fa irruzione in un vecchio palazzo per lo più abitato da spacciatori e portoricani. Questi ultimi, a causa della loro fede religiosa, non vogliono consegnare i loro morti, tenuti rinchiusi nel seminterrato dell'edificio, costringendo gli agenti, col supporto dei militari della Guardia Nazionale ad andare a recuperarli. Di questa squadra di agenti fanno parte Roger e Peter, che qui faranno conoscenza.

Witchfinder General "Friends of Hell" reissue CD. "U.K. NWOBHM (New wave of British Heavy Metal) band are more or less pretty obscure to the mainstream nowadays. Unfortunately, the band broke up after 2 album releases. Their brand of classic metal and DOOM metal is still refreshing to hear today- one could classify them as very- BLACK SABBATH-Like (Ozzy-era).
